Dr. Kristi Henderson is the Vice President for Patient Access, Transformation and Virtual Care for Ascension, the largest non-profit health system in the country.  She is a Clinical Professor in Population Health at the Dell Medical School at UT-Austin.  She led the development of a nationally recognized telehealth program and has advised numerous health systems on virtual care services. She is best known for her ability to deploy and sustain new models of care in advance of them becoming mainstream when it is more feasible.  A few of her accomplishments include: 2017 American Academy of Nurse Practitioners State Excellence Award, 2016 Fellow in American Academy of Nursing, 2013 Robert Wood Johnson Nurse Executive Fellow, the 2014 Nurse Innovator of the Year, 2012 Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year, and an American Academy of Nurses “Edge Runner”.

She advocates for change through multiple channels, including testifying before two U.S. Senate Committees and the White House Domestic Policy Council, as well as presenting at a TEDx event and the international SXSW event in Austin for the last three consecutive years.

She serves on the Board for the American Telemedicine Association and co-leads the American Nurses Association TeleHealth Committee. She has served on telehealth committees for the National Quality Forum, Association of American Medical Colleges, National Council of State Legislators and the National Governor’s Association.

Henderson received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She maintains national certification as a family and acute care nurse practitioner.
