Eric Lefkofsky has spent the last 20 years helping structure, cleanse and make sense of data in industries that have been slow to adopt technology. Eric never planned to work in healthcare, but when a loved one was diagnosed with cancer he confronted a system without the technology infrastructure to help physicians personalize care.
In an effort to solve that problem, Tempus built a series of data pipelines to aggregate data, utilizing the most sophisticated technologies, including machine learning, cluster computing, next generation sequencing, natural language processing, AI-assisted image recognition, etc. These data pipelines, in turn, power a variety of clinical and research applications to drive clinical decision support and cutting edge academic research.
Lefkofsky has co-founded a number of companies, including Groupon (NASDAQ: GRPN), where he continues to serve as Chairman; Uptake Technologies, a predictive analytics platform; Mediaocean, a provider of media procurement technology; Echo Global Logistics (NASDAQ: ECHO), a technology-enabled logistics firm; and InnerWorkings (NASDAQ: INWK), a global provider of print solutions. He is also a founding partner of the venture fund Lightbank.
An active member of the Chicago community, Eric is a trustee of Lurie Children’s Hospital, the Art Institute of Chicago, The Museum of Science and Industry, and Steppenwolf Theater. Eric and his wife Liz are co-chairs of the Lefkofsky Family Foundation and members of the Giving Pledge.
